Pemberton further strengthens - Pemberton team

Pemberton, the independent asset management group, today announces the hire of Robin Challis who joins as a portfolio manager.

With over 18 years’ experience in financial services, Challis joins the team of recently hired partner Ben Gulliver, as the firm continues its development of new strategies for 2017.

Prior to joining Pemberton, Challis spent over a decade at RBS, most recently as a Managing Director in its Special Situations Group. He was the head of its strategy team, overseeing a large trading book of loans, bonds and turn-around capital.

Challis also spent time working for RBS in Singapore and Hong Kong. Prior to joining the bank, he worked in Hong Kong for a debt broker-dealer, Debt Traders. He began his career at KPMG, working in its insolvency and restructuring practice.

Robin’s background reflects exactly the type of person we look to hire at Pemberton. He has a long track record, deep experience in the lending sector, and an understanding of the financing needs and capital structure of companies.

His knowledge will be a great asset as we continue to develop new strategies for investors to access Europe’s lending opportunity. There is no question companies are searching for capital to drive their growth. But there are questions about where they can access that capital as bank lending continues to retrench. We believe institutional investors can provide the answer, generating long-term stable returns at the same time.

I’m excited to be joining at this stage in Pemberton’s development. There is a clear opportunity in European lending, and I look forward to working on new ways to access it for investors over the coming months.

– Robin Challis, Portfolio Manager at Pemberton
