Pemberton hires Geoffroi de Saint Chamas as Head of France


The asset manager focused on private debt and direct lending to European mid-market companies continues to expand its European team.

Pemberton, the independent asset management group backed by L&G has further strengthened its presence in Europe with the appointment of Geoffroi de Saint Chamas as Head of France.

Mr de Saint Chamas has 25 years’ experience in the European corporate banking, acquisition and leveraged finance market and joins Pemberton from Lazard, where he was Head of Debt Advisory in France. Prior to joining Lazard in 2009, he was co-Head of RBS’s Leveraged Finance business in France. Mr de Saint Chamas began his career at Paribas and held various positions in advisory and structured finance at Credit Agricole.

Geoffroi brings extensive transaction expertise and an exceptional track record of building market leading businesses in France, where he is extremely well known and highly respected by the borrower and banking communities. Biography: Geoffroi de Saint Chamas, Head of France

Geoffroi de Saint Chamas has more than 25 years’ experience in French corporate banking and leveraged finance and will lead Pemberton’s business in France. Mr de Saint Chamas joined Pemberton in September 2015.

Prior to joining Pemberton, Mr de Saint Chamas worked at Lazard from 2009 to 2015 as Head of Debt Advisory in France where he has advised a wide number of French and European companies and financial sponsors in the context of their financing strategies, including raising new financing, optimizing debt solutions, and managing refinancing or restructuring. He has led a wide variety of debt assignments overall for a total financing value of ca €16bn of which ca €12bn was new debt.

Before joining Lazard, Mr de Saint Chamas was a key pillar in the development and success of The Royal Bank of Scotland in France between 2000 and 2008 where he was managing director, Co-Head of Leveraged Finance. In this role, he has led more than 60 transactions involving acquisition financing for private equity firms and corporates, both for mid-market and larger companies. During this period, RBS became one of the leading financing institutions in France and ranked number one bookrunner for leveraged loans for several years. Between 2006 and 2008, Mr de Saint Chamas was also a member of the Credit Committee for RBS’ Global Banking Markets in London.

Mr de Saint Chamas also held various positions in advisory and structured finance at Paribas, Indosuez and Credit Agricole, both in France and Italy. He graduated from Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (IEP) and holds a Master in Business Law from Université de Paris I and a Master in Finance from Université de Dauphine (Paris).
