Pemberton Strengthens Leadership Team with Appointment of Harriet Steel
Overview
Pemberton, one of the leading alternative credit managers, today announces the appointment of Harriet Steel, who joins the firm as Partner and Head of Global Clients.
In her new role, Harriet will lead the development of the client business globally and oversees business development, investor relations, marketing, communications and sustainable investing.
Harriet brings with her over 30 years’ experience in financial services. Most recently, she was Head of Business Development, International, at Federated Hermes also serving as a member of the Executive Committee and a Board Director of the international business.
After joining Hermes Investment Management in 2011, Harriet’s commercial leadership was key to the transformation of Hermes from its origins as the internal asset manager of British Telecom Pension Scheme to an independent investment management business serving more than 800 institutional and distribution clients globally. Her contribution to the growth of the business led to the successful sale of Hermes Investment Management to Federated Investors to become Federated Hermes in 2020.
Harriet started her career in finance holding roles in leading banking institutions including Bankers Trust and Morgan Stanley. She subsequently established Portico Advisors, an advisory business raising assets for Hedge Funds, Private Equity and Real Estate Strategies. Harriet holds an BA in Architecture from Princeton University.
Over recent years Pemberton has grown from launching three successful direct lending strategies to become a diversified, multi-strategy alternative credit platform, which now includes Working Capital Finance (WCF), NAV Financing (NAV), Risk Sharing (RSS) and CLO’s. The build out of the platform has been supported by a substantial investment into the people resources across the firm.
Harriet’s extensive experience in financial markets and her strong track record in asset management are invaluable and will be key in supporting the strategic build out of our platform and the global client franchise as we remain committed to deliver leading alternative credit strategies to our clients
– Symon Drake-Brockman, Managing Partner at Pemberton
Pemberton’s impressive growth record, its evolution towards a multi-strategy alternative credit offering and a market environment with opportunity for further growth, make it an exciting time to join. I look forward to working with the team as we look to define Pemberton’s next chapter and deliver continued value to our clients.
