Pemberton appoints Matthew Kirsch as Managing Director
Overview
Pemberton, a leading alternative credit specialist, today announces the appointment of Matthew Kirsch as Managing Director in its 10-people strong Credit team, led by Pemberton’s Chief Credit Officer Nicole Gates.
Through its network of nine offices across Europe and the Middle East, and its 50+ dedicated investment team, Pemberton provides borrowers flexible financing solutions using capital raised through four clearly delineated investment strategies.
Matthew brings over 15 years of experience in the European leveraged finance market as both a credit analyst and originator. At Pemberton, he will be joining the company’s independent Credit team as a Managing Director, advising on the credit risk associated with new opportunities and existing investments.
Prior to joining Pemberton, Matthew spent over 3.5 years at Apollo, where he was the founding member of the firm’s European Private Credit team, focusing on the origination and execution of investments in support of mid-market private equity-backed transactions. Prior to Apollo, he was a Director at both Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Europe and GE Capital’s Leveraged Finance teams.
Kirsch’s appointment is the latest in a series of senior hires, following the recent appointment of Anis Ghamgui as Managing Director and Head of Middle East and Africa.
Pemberton’s Credit team ensures there is an independent review of all investment opportunities. As part of its assessment, the credit team undertakes a rigorous analysis of the credit fundamentals of potential borrowers, including calculating an indicative obligor rating. This credit analysis, together with analysis of the proposed legal structure and terms and conditions, also helps Pemberton assess risk-adjusted returns prior to investment.
We are excited to welcome Matthew to the Pemberton Credit team. Matthew will bring deep industry knowledge and credit expertise, which will further strengthen our ability to understand and qualify the risks involved in potential transactions, and in our current portfolio. Matthew will be a great asset as Pemberton continues to grow and we look to broaden our platform.
– Nicole Gates, Chief Credit Officer of Pemberton
